CHEO and OCTC Joining Forces to Create a New Organization

Amalgamation of Two Leaders to Improve Health Services for Children and Families

Ottawa, May 17:   The Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario (CHEO) and the Ottawa Children’s Treatment Centre (OCTC) – the two leading providers of specialized pediatric health services in the region – intend to join forces to create a new organization.

The Ottawa Children's Treatment Centre reveals new Smilezone that supports children and families, and honours community leader, Bryan Murray.

Ottawa, ON – March 9, 2021 – Today the Ottawa Children's Treatment Centre was pleased to welcome families and guests to the unveiling of the new Smilezone area at their Smyth Road Centre.   Joined by Smilezone Foundation Board Members as well as players from the Ottawa Senators team, the Ottawa Children's Treatment Centre unveiled the new Smilezone that will honour Bryan Murray and support children, youth and families who are waiting for their appointment at the Centre.


The children and youth served by the Ottawa Children's Treatment Centre shared the fruits and vegetables of their labour at the first "Children Play Garden" Party.

Cornwall –September 26, 2014- The children have spent the past four months planting, weeding, watering and caring for their new garden. Today, they celebrated the harvest by picking and sharing the vegetables they had grown.


Children and families at the Ottawa Children's Treatment Centre welcomed Ottawa REDBLACKS Quarterback, Henry Burris, to the Centre to kick-off his role as Celebrity Ambassador

OTTAWA – September 23, 2020 –The children participated in a kicking contest and pep rally to welcome Mr. Burris to the Children's Treatment Centre, and highlighted the skills they have been learning as part of the School Program. Through the recreational program at the school, children have been building their gross motor and teamwork skills through football related games.


Helping Children and Youth with Special Needs in Ottawa Achieve Their Goals -Ontario Taking Action to Reduce Wait Times and Improve Services

Ontario is investing $400,000 in annualized funding in the Ottawa Children's Treatment Centre to reduce wait times and enhance children's rehabilitation services for children and youth with special needs, and their families.

A day in the life of a Paralympian

OTTAWA -December 10, 2012 – Paralympic medalist Jason Dunkerley and his guide Josh Karanja will lead young people with disabilities and able bodied participants of the partnered "Run, (Wheel), Jump, Throw" program through a typical Paralympian's training session complete with warm-up exercises and skills development. To top it off, children will have the chance to experience running blindfolded with a guide. After the workout, the two Paralympians will hand out certificates to all participants and will answer questions from children and their parents.
